Liaoning Provincial Institute of Geological Exploration introduction


	Liaoning Provincial Institute of Geological Exploration ("Liaoning IGE") was previously the Regional Geological survey Team of Liaoning BGMRE．The team established in 1960 and its name was changed into Liaoning IGE in 2001. The institute locates in Jinzhou District of Dalian, Liaoning. During the 46 years since its establishment, the unit principally undertakes national Planned public geological projects. In recent years, as the geological industry is providing more extensive service to the society, business geological work has become an important business scope for Liaolling IGE to join in market economy activities. Liaoning IGE has huge technical force. It has a staff of l80 professional technicians, of which there is 1 doctor, 15 masters or post-graduates and over 150 people at or higher than college level, and there are over 160 senior and mid-level technical personnel, of which there are 10 senior engineers at professional level and 48 senior engineers. They mainly have rich geological exploration and practical experience and have got rich reward in geological exploration and scientific study，many of the technicians have attained special allowance in the country, province and city, and they’ve received citation, in MOLAR, province and city as they have made great contribution to the public geological survey in the province, scientific study，mineral discovery much needed by the country and regional economic construction. Basic Geological Survey and Study：27 regional geological and mineral survey maps at a scale of 1:20,000 have been completed, which occupies 84 percent of provincial maps at relevant scale; 20 regional geological and mineral survey maps at a scale of 1:50,000 and 72 regional geological survey map at a scale of 1:50,000 were completed,which accounts for 56 percent of the completed provincial maps at the same scale; and 10 standard regional geo-logical survey maps in separate sheets at a scale of 1:250,000 have been completed, which accounts for 87.5 percent of the area of regional geological survey maps completed in the province at the same scale, among them,9 sheets have gained second and third prizes for exploration achievements in the previous Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources. In recent years, the institute has fulfilled the regional geology and mineral resources survey at a scale of 1:50,000 in Kalasu area of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region，finished the regional geology and mineral resources survey at a scale of 1:50,000 in Paergang area in Shanshan County; also 4 four sheets of the regional geology and mineral resources survey at a scale of 1:50,000 in ChenbaerhuqiPogelushan in Hulunbeier of Inner Mongolia. Scientific Study：More than 30 important scientific studies, special works and maps have been completed and published including The Regional Geology Records in Liaoning Province, General Situation on Liaoning Geology and Mineral Resources, Study on Intrusive Rock and Mineral Resources in Liaoning Province and Liaoning Lithostratigraphy, among them more than 20 achievements have got First, Second and Third Prizes in MOLAR and Liaoning province. Geological Prospecting: More than 30 metal and non-metal mines have been found including the large Wafangdian Diamond Mine, super large Paishanlou Gold Mine in Fuxin city and special jinchang’gou Gold mine in yuantai Town of Pulandian city, of which Wafandian Diamond, Paishanlou Gold and Jinchang’ gou Gold has filled up the empty space in Liaoning, and some of them are first examples in the country and the world. Hydrogeology, Engineering Geological survey and Construction, Measurement，Exploration Appraisal on Engineering Stability, Geological Hazard Evaluation and Tourist Geology: Many projects have been carried out including investigation of Cuizhu housing estate in Dalian, the pile foundation construction in Songyuli area in OEZ of Dalian，the topographic survey for Double D Port Programme in OEZ of Dalian, Addressing of Dalian Nuclear Power Station, the geothermal exploration in Bayuquan of Yingkou, and the investigation and appraisal project of Dalian Seaside National Geological Park, of which more than 20 projects has been appraised as splendid programmes. Rock and mineral Appraisal, Testing: The rock and mineral appraisal and testing work on many large and mid-sized exploration projects have been completed. The institute has large comprehensive laboratory in South Liaolling, has precision measurement and assaying instrument, and is a national identified and qualified organization in measurement and has a good fame in the public. Liaoning IGE has first-class qualification on regional geological survey, solid mineral exploration and geotechnical engineering, has second-class quail-fication on rock and mineral appraisal and testing，hydrogeological exploration, engineering measurement, geological hazard danger, management and construction on engineering exploration, and has third-class qualification on geological hazard management plan. Now it’s a new century and Liaoning IGE will go on promoting his team spirit to provide resources for the country and human society by taking advantage of its own technologies.
